The challenge
Super Bowl LX was coming to the Bay Area. The challenge was making sure every fan, resident, and visitor knew exactly how to be part of it.
VMG began with a deep dive into the media consumption habits of all three target audiences. That meant understanding where local NFL fans consumed sports media, how Bay Area residents discovered and engaged with local events, and where out-of-market visitors could be intercepted as they arrived in the region. That intelligence became the foundation of a media strategy designed to drive awareness and ticket sales simultaneously across every relevant touchpoint. But strategy alone wasn't enough. Super Bowl markets are the most competitive and expensive media environments in the country. Inventory gets locked up early, rates spike, and most agencies are left competing for whatever is left. VMG's vendor relationships and firsthand experience on the vendor side meant we knew which partners to call, what was available before it hit the open market, and how to negotiate rates that kept the campaign within budget without sacrificing impact.
The approach
VMG locked in inventory before rates peaked, aligned creative with channel requirements across eight media types, and created a sequenced activation plan designed to build awareness early and convert it to ticket sales as Super Bowl week approached.
The campaign activated across OOH, local radio, linear TV, streaming audio, paid social, paid search, programmatic display, and publisher digital simultaneously. Each channel was selected for its ability to reach a specific audience at a specific moment in their journey. OOH and radio built broad awareness across the Bay Area. Linear TV and streaming audio extended reach into homes across all six markets. Paid social and programmatic targeted specific audience segments with precision. And paid search captured intent from fans already looking for ways to be part of Super Bowl week.

The Results
The results spoke to the precision of the strategy behind them. In a market where inventory was scarce and competition for attention was at its peak, the campaign reached the right audiences, moved them through the funnel, and delivered outcomes that exceeded the goals set by the NFL.
Why this Worked
Preparation, relationships, and precision matter more in a Super Bowl market than anywhere else.
Super Bowl markets reward preparation and punish complacency. Waiting until the market heats up will leave any advertiser locked out of the best inventory at inflated rates with limited options. Vendor relationships and firsthand experience on the vendor side meant we were already in conversations with the right partners before most agencies had even started planning. That early positioning was critical to everything that followed.
“VMG has been an invaluable partner to the Bay Area Host Committee.
